Self Reflection on Rotation 4 Surgery

My surgery rotation was very interesting, I was exposed to a lot of different things and people. My first time scrubbing into a surgery I was terrified but as I began to get more comfortable after I scrubbed into more surgeries my confidence increased. I really enjoyed going to the different clinics and conversing with and examining patients. I also enjoyed the time I spent with the PA’s who were working the floor and ICU. When I was working with them is when I got to do the most of this experience through doing things such as placing ng tubes, a lines, suturing stab wounds, doing chest compressions, and administering medications. Overall, I feel as if I got to do a lot of hands-on things that I had never done or been exposed to before. One thing I would have liked more of would be time with the ICU and floor PA’s because again I feel as if those encounters are when I was able to get the most out of this rotation.
